Adding external recipients in Exchange

This article was been published more than 6months ago. The information contained herein may be outdated.

A few weeks ago, we looked at groups in Exchange. Sometimes, you need to be able to add external recipients, too. Here’s how we create those:

  1. Open your Microsoft Exchange console
  2. Browse to Recipient Configuration > Mail Contact
  3. In the right-hand pane, click “New Mail Contact”:
    New Mail Contact
  4. Go through the Wizard, specifying the OU as appropriate. The address should be in the format SMTP:recipient@domain.tld:
    New Mail Contact Wizard
