How to search effectively on Twitter

In the past year or so, I have been using Twitter a fair amount, and I have found that, despite all of the systemic issues of bullying and harassment, there are also plenty of communities from which to learn, exchange ideas, and commiserate. From time to time, I need to find a specific tweet, and have taken to using a few searches, filters, and operators to find what I need:

  • To find tweets by specific users, use from:username
  • To find tweets to specific users, use to:username
  • filter:verified returns results from verified users
  • filter:replies returns replies
  • filter:retweets returns original tweets (excluding retweets)
  • filter:links returns tweets with links
  • filter:images returns tweets with images
  • filter:media returns tweets with video or images
  • filter:native_video returns tweets with videos uploaded to Twitter
  • filter:follows returns tweets from accounts you follow
  • since:2019-01-01 until:2019-03-12 Tweets from within a time span of 1/1/2019 to 12/3/2019
  • min_faves:10 returnstweets with more than ten likes (use whichever number you want)

I have found all of these useful from time to time.
