Podcast subscriptions revisited

Since it’s been a few years since I wrote about my podcasting diet, and since easter is coming up at the end of the week, I thought I’d take a new look at what podcasts I subscribe to. I still use Downcast for podcasts; it’s been working well for me, and I see no need to replace it with something else. The podcasts I listen to has changed a fair bit over the years; some have been removed, and others have been added. Here’s the list as it currently stands:

  • the Allusionist – Helen Zaltzman hosts this delightfully nerdy podcast about words, their origins, and their changing usage
  • Crimetown – a tightly produced true crime show, Crimetown scratches an itch that I didn’t know I had
  • Freakonomics Radio – started as a companion podcast to the books, this podcast offers interesting insights into the world we live in
  • LeVar Burton Reads – LeVar Burton reads excellent fiction by excellent authors
  • Outpost: a Star Trek fan production – a first rate Star Trek fan fiction show, chronicling the life and times of the personell at Deep Space Three
  • Planet Money – excellent economics reporting from NPR
  • Reply All – a show about the internet, and the people on it
  • Trump, Inc. – this show looks at the troubling aspects of Donald Trump and his business holdings
  • the West Wing Weekly – an excellent show, going through the entire run of the West Wing, episode by episode
  • What Trump can teach us about Con Law – a podcast about US constitutional law, against the backdrop of, and as it pertains to, Donald Trump
  • Wolverine: the lost trail – an episodic audio drama about Wolverine
