2010 roundup

Almost past us, I think it is time to take a look back and take stock of 2010, and see what the year brought.

Exciting product launches:
The iPad, easily among the top ten most anticipated new products of the year, was announced in January, and hit stores in April. I got mine in September, and, in spite of my original reservations, I’ve got to say; it delivers, and more, on what it promises.

Having played with the thought for a very long time, I finally decided to start looking for a new job. I hadn’t even gotten to putting the word out, though, before I got an email from a recruiter asking me if I might be interested in a position. Four interviews and the better part of a month later, I was offered the position, and tendered my resignation at Orkla Shared Services.

Knowing that my time at Orkla was coming to an end, I decided to take advantage of their corporate deal for the purchase of cellphones. Having a year and a bit of experience with Android, I decided to go for another Android phone, the HTC Desire, yet another Android model with which I am very pleased indeed.

2010 also marks the first full year of Windows Seven, the most impressive OS I’ve yet to see from Microsoft. It works well, and has much fewer teething problems than any other new OS I can remember from Microsoft. I am excited to see where it goes from here, and hope Microsoft does something about their myriad of different versions of Windows.

On the personal front, I got engaged to my girlfriend of four years this summer, and we are getting married next year. I look forward to sharing the rest of my life with her. Everything else in my life pales in comparison to how her presence enriches every day she is in it.

I don’t really have many wishes for myself and the year to come. What wishes I do have go something like this; getting marries to my fiancée, learning many new skills in my new job, and doing a good job for my new employer.

For all of us, I wish that next year, and every year to come, will be filled with love, joy and peace, and that we may grow happy, contented and old in the company of our loved ones. Simple things, really, but all we really need.

With the best wishes for the holidays, and the year to come, I sign off for this now, and will return with more posts, next year.
